“I continually stress to my players that all I expect from them at practice and in the games is their maximum effort.” - John Wooden
I used to think I had to go to this seminar, listen to this speaker, or do this exercise program to get to where I wanted, or needed more knowledge on a subject before I started. All these things are good don’t get me wrong, but at times we get caught up in going to the next new thing that we never actually start one thing.
As time has gone on, I have found the formula to success is simple.
1. Just start
2. Maximum effort
3. 100% focus/commitment
There were several times I didn’t know how to do something, but I started. I made mistakes, but I learned along the way. Don’t let the fear of not knowing keep you from starting. Make use of the resources you have now and learn as you go.
Next, once you have started something, don’t quit! Finish it to the end and give your full effort! Too many times I would start an exercise program, and then quit half way through and go to another one thinking the results would come quicker. By hopping from one program to the next, I really never saw results since I wasn’t committed or giving full effort.
Whatever you are wanting to do in life, just start, give maximum effort, and stay focused till the end and the results WILL HAPPEN! What situation can you apply this to in your life today?
