Let's talk about ergonomics and safe carrier use. These days slings and carriers are all marketed as hip healthy, ergonomic, suitable from a certain age, weight etc
However, a sling or carrier is only ergonomic if it fits baby to carrying adult in the correct position, it's only safe if it's used how it's been designed to fit baby to carrying adult. Also the weight guides are that, just guides as 2 babies who weigh the same can be a totally different height or build with very different head control or ability to sit.
So the point of this post is to remind everyone that we are here to offer free advice at our drop ins, it's worth checking that the ergonomic hip healthy carrier the lady in the store recommended or that your friends use, is the right option for you and your baby. Or even better try before you buy, that's why we do what we do!
Free advice and fit checks with your own sling or carrier are available at all of our library drop in sessions so please utilise us to help make your carrying journey comfortable and safe xx7
