The perils of having #Celiac and ordering to-go: always triple check your order!
Tonight the hubby got us some @true_food_kitchen to go and as you can see everything clearly states my allergies on the ticket.
The charred cauliflower was #delicious and totally safe (so good in fact that I missed taking a #picture ). Luckily, I'm always super skeptical of to-go orders and when I went to get my entree, I knew that the sauce inside of the container was definitely the gluten-filled ponzu sauce and not the #glutenfree tamari. Unfortunately, since it was inside the container and probably cross-contaminated (what sauce container doesn't spill?), I couldn't eat the meal.
I love ❤️❤️❤️ True Food Kitchen @fashionvalleyca and in 5 years have never had an incident when dining in (and I've featured their #allergyfriendly and #celiacfriendly meals many times). But even the safest of places can occasionally mess up, so for those of us with legit #foodallergies it's definitely on us to stay vigilient and always #readthelabel and #doubletriplecheck our orders.
When my hubby called True Food, they were super apologetic and offered to comp the meal without us having to go back out. More importantly, they assured us that they would check in with their to-go team to make sure they understand the importance of taking #foodallergies seriously.
As frustrating as it is, I am still so grateful that True Food and other restaurants do try their best to be accommodating, and more importantly, take training their staff seriously. And my body is very happy I didn't take a bite!
