I’ve seen so many blog posts and websites dedicated to check lists, tips, do’s and dont’s, registry essentials, photos you “need to get”, on and on and on; teaching you everything you “need to know” about planning a wedding.
Some of them have been helpful, because I’ll be honest: planning a destination wedding in Big Sur is not the experience you think it would be 😂
But I am so grateful that Chris and I put ten times more effort into preparing for our marriage than for our wedding day. We have, and are still shining the light in every dark corner, tearing down every barrier, and taking authority over any unhealthy character traits, mindsets, habits, or beliefs that for years have been trying to remain hidden. I’ve never loved him more than I do now, seeing how we are both choosing to die to ourselves, our opinions and self seeking.
I am so excited to get married and see the fruit of our planning labor, this entire thing has been SO much fun. 10/10 recommend. But the purpose of my life and the reason I was put on this earth, is not to have a wedding.
I am here to go from glory to glory, to be perfected in Christ; not to have the perfect wedding.
When life gets less “full” in the next month or so, I’m gonna write up some blog posts about our experience, our mindset shifts, what we are stoked on and what we learned.
I would love to hear the story of all the engaged and married couples in the room, about how this process was for you!
