Title of Piece: Alien Boy EP
Release Date: February 16, 2018
Category: Extended Play Record
This is the major label debut EP from Oliver Tree, released under Atlantic Records. This is different from the other music I review because this is not Hip Hop, so bear with me. (Yeah that's all the introduction you get.) The worst songs on the EP:
The NGBNB songs on the EP:
Enemy has a sort of angry aura, and the gist of the song is "this girl cheated on me, f*ck you." I can really feel his anger and pain (as cheesy as that sounds). This is one of the shorter songs on this EP.
This song perfectly encapsulates the feeling of having a happy day when you're down. The melody in the background paints a clear sky with nothing to do on a Saturday morning.
The best songs on the EP:
The song that the EP is named after takes place in an alien body, surrounded by humans, trying to fit in. The song with seemingly one chord makes a vibe that I can't quite pinpoint. The "I won't be here long" line makes you feel like you're in space.
All I Got
If this was a hip-hop song, I would bash it for having VERY repetitive lyrics. However, with the theme of the song and the beat, Oliver paints a scene of showing how truly important this one person is to him, with no other thought in his head other than "please don't leave me." All That
All That is sorta partnered with Enemy because they both have "f*ck you" energy. This is a diss track to anybody he feels deserves hate. This was also merged with Alien Boy to create a double song-music video.
Welcome to LA
This song states all of LA stereotypes. It is a narration of Oliver's experience in LA. The production is top-grade (just like the bullsh*t providers aha). This song is easily the best song on this EP, with Alien Boy.
