#24 on the #DCSDTop30 DC Athletes is TJ Oshie. ———————————————————————— TJ Oshie has been one of the most underrated players in the NHL since joining the Caps in 2015, and the Caps got him for basically nothing. Oshie was acquired from St. Louis for Troy Brouwer, Phoenix Copley, and a 3rd round pick..... so yeah, the Caps stole him from the Blues. Through 291 games in DC, Oshie has 102 goals and 106 assists, along with a strong 208/152 takeaway/giveaway ratio. He has been a very solid two-way forward and a leader on the ice, and his point production is very impressive considering he usually plays on the second line. He’s also very physical, as he has 486 hits and 221 blocks in his time with the Caps. In the playoffs, Oshie’s production does not slow down. In 53 playoff games (with the Caps), he has 19 goals, 26 assists, and 135 hits. He’s recently signed a long term extension to stay in DC for (most likely) the rest of his career, and although it may look like an overpay he has still easily been one of the backbones of the Capitals team. It is a real possibility, however, that he is selected by the Seattle expansion team in the coming years. If that does happen, I would be sad to see him go but also excited for him to lead a team from his hometown state of Washington. We’ll see what happens.
Favorite/best moments: His hat trick against the Penguins in the playoffs, or his beer chug at the Stanley Cup parade.———————————————————————— #DCSports #TJOshie #Oshie #OshBabe #Capitals #TJSochi #Caps #AllCaps #NHL
