"The young lions roar for their prey, seeking their food from God." Psalm 104:21
All living creation are designed to depend on God for their day to day need, hence, enjoying all of His benefits. In regards to man's need, this fact is made clearer in the Lord's prayer; "give us this day our daily bread" (Matt 6:11). To tender such request means to renounce our strength and beat a retreat from self-sufficiency in regards to meeting our daily need, and that there is one we should rather look up to for this difficult task— God, for whom nothing is difficult (Gen 18:14). If young lions seek their food from God, and if God stands sovereign over mere birds of the sky (Matt 10:29), and lilies of the field (Matt 6:28-29), this tells us how much God cares for all of His creatures combine, but so much more, man (Matt 6:26). And how He is at the centre of providence, gracefully dispersing to all of creation.
So would you not wake up every morning of your life with gratitude towards every yesterday's need that He met, and with a new request for every today's need that lies before you— and not wallow in anxiety of tomorrow's need, but bask in the peace and confidence in absolute reliance on God! You will never go wrong by "casting all your care upon him; for he cares for you" 1 Peter 5:7.
Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the Lord. Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord (Jeremiah 17:5, 7). Tobi Oyekan
