🔹 2017 PORSCHE 911 R | The Perfect 911 for Purists 🔹
The Porsche 911 GT3 is available only with the PDK dual clutch transmission. The same happens with the Porsche 911 GT3 RS. But you can have a Porsche Cayman GT4 with manual transmission. Obviously, it is something that did not like much among the most loyal customers and addicted to 911. To compensate them, Porsche presented in the Geneva Motor Show a lightened 911, with an atmospheric boxer 6 of 500 hp and a manual change, the Porsche 911 R.
Aesthetically it is a 911 GT3 without a rear wing, although it opens a specific rear diffuser and retains the 911 Carrera mobile wing. What we did not know until today were its technical characteristics. The 911 R equips the 6-cylinder 4.0-liter GT3 RS and its 500 hp and 460 Nm. The 0 to 100 km / h? Executed in 3.8 seconds. And the maximum speed? 323 km / h.
Obviously, the grace of this 911 is its manual change of 6 relations that is responsible for channeling the torque to the rear wheels and performs the double clutch maneuver automatically. Optionally, the 911 R can equip a single mass flywheel to improve engine reactivity.
Reducing the weight in the original 1967 Porsche 911 R had become an obsession for the Weissach team. With the Porsche 911 R of 2016, reducing weight has been an important point of development. Of course, they have not reached the ends of the original 911 R, yet they have managed to lose 50 kg with respect to the GT3 RS. The 911 R weighs 1,370 kg while the 911 GT3 RS weighs 1,420 kg, according to the DIN standard (1,495 kg according to the European standard). The hood and fins are made of carbon and the roof is magnesium. In this way the center of gravity of the vehicle is lowered. The rear windshield and side windows are made of lightweight plastic. Obviously, the reduction of insulating elements inside and the suppression of the rear seats are in tune with the GT3 RS. In this slimming cure, the air conditioning and audio system become optional.
