Micro loading is a somewhat commonly debated subject in strength and conditioning circles and we think that’s odd...
•
The common argument is that if plates and bars aren’t calibrated then how can you accurately determine whether such minimal changes in load make a difference session to session when using different equipment.
•
The above point is a pretty valid argument in most cheaply equipped commercial gyms, but we aren’t like most commercial gyms - At West Coast Barbell our equipment is very well made by @roguefitness and having measured pretty much everything in the gym ourselves, can confirm that the level of manufacturing accuracy for their plates and bars is top notch.
•
Another argument could be - “Well you use RPE based training and fluctuations in your training performance will make more of a difference than those 0.25kg plates will”.
•
We’re also inclined to agree with the above point. However, we think there is potential value (at least psychologically) in being able to PR training lifts more frequently, thus better allowing lifters to build momentum throughout a training block.
•
Additionally, for relatively new lifters a 2.5kg jump in load week to week could be a substantial increase on certain lifts - Take for example a new lifter trying to do 5 reps of a 20kg barbell one week on their overhead press and then trying to do 22.5kg the next week...
•
That might not sound like much, but it’s more than a 10% increase which could be way too much for someone in the early stages of their training development... We recently had an online coaching member tell us that a gym she trains at in Adelaide only has 1 pair of 1.25kg plates and they’re rarely available 😓
•
We very much understand that well made gym equipment is expensive, but we feel that the cost of trainees not being able to apply appropriately dosed progressive overload is far greater than some relatively inexpensive rings of metal 🤷🏼‍♂️

И так, начинаю с разминки:
🍦Степпер - 20 минут.
🍦Сгибания ног, положение лёжа - 4 подхода - 25 повторений;
🍦Разведение ног, сидя в наклоне - 3 подхода - 50 раз ( вес не большой);
🍦Мертвая тяга на прямых ногах - 4 подхода - 12 раз на бб и низ ягодиц;
🍦Отведение ноги назад в нижнем блоке - 4 подхода - по 15 раз на ногу;
🍦Глубокий присед с гантелей - 3 подхода - 20 раз;
🍦Тяга на верх ягодиц с гантелями - 3 подхода - 15 раз;
🍦Сгибания ног, положение лёжа - 3 подхода - 15 раз;
🍦Гиперэкстензия на ягодицы - 3 подхода - 15 раз;
🍦Выпады с гантелями - 3 подхода по 30 шагов.
🍦Заминка «велосипед» - 25 минут.

In the darkest labyrinths of my mind, sleep moments that I wish to bury forever. But they always slip into just "on snooze". They keep rearing their ugly moments... slipping me back to where I know I don't belong anymore... I don't deserve to be. If Life is a battle... I have proudly taken it head on. I am not the strongest. But in my weakness lies a strength that defeats me each time and "that same defeat strengthens me and uplifts me time and again". Yes I have made mistakes... wrong choices. But then in life nothing comes with a warning label. We all fail and learn... The trial and error method. But what stays a mistake and stays forever a wrong choice is.... despite knowing it ain't right... we still stick to it. It is so important to flush that ego down that pot and accept you wronged... Claire Zai (@claire_bullzaistrength) competed in a meet on the outskirts of the Domain of the Mouse, sometimes called Anaheim, CA, a little over two weeks ago. Her intent was to qualify for the @usapowerlifting Raw National Championships and I was assisting her at the contest.
•
Claire is strong. She squatted 162.5 kg, bench pressed 105 kg, and deadlifted 185 kg. That total sums to 452.5 kilos, which would have tied her for 6th place at last year’s Raw Nationals in the 72 kilo women’s class. Lots of numbers using bizarre units, I know.
•
For those less enamored of quantitation, this is nothing short of an impressive performance, especially for someone early into their lifting career. Claire handily won her division, out-lifting her nearest competitor by 40 kilos and qualified for Raw Nationals this year for her weight class and every class above it. To utilize understatement as a rhetorical device: strong.
•
I only briefly coached Claire in-person some months before and she took a risk having me assist her in a competition where the results mattered. Things worked out very well. Interacting with a lifter is an exercise in perception and in responding appropriately. Aside from the technical aspects of the job, paying attention, being supportive, and knowing when to speak or act and when to be still are important. I cannot do very much at a meet. Mostly I just stand there. Nor is it the place to try and fix technique. What I can do is be present and work to alleviate external distractions as much as possible so that the lifter can focus on the task at hand and enjoy themselves.

I snapped the first picture of Claire prior to her third attempt deadlift in the warmup area. The second one was right before she began said attempt. If it looks dark in the venue, that’s because it was. Congratulations on your lifting, Claire.

Happy Birthday @aprilsanchez559 you are the only human alive that I would get up at 4AM to get pancakes for or ditch a set of white hotel sheets after a show spray tan went really bad and it looked like an Ompa-Loompa sleep in the bed 🤣 my personal favorite when you had me bartering deals with a swimsuit lady in the lobby at a bodybuilding show because you had wardrobe malfunction 10 minutes before you had to be on stage! All sprinkled with endless chats over Starbucks black iced tea no water and 1 sweet & low! I hope you had a wonderful birthday can’t wait to celebrate with you this weekend!!!!!
