𝕀 𝕕𝕖𝕗𝕚𝕟𝕚𝕥𝕖𝕝𝕪 𝕘𝕒𝕧𝕖 𝕚𝕟 𝕥𝕠 𝕞𝕪 𝕤𝕨𝕖𝕖𝕥 𝕥𝕠𝕠𝕥𝕙 🙈🙊 and made these healthy oatmeal cookies as my office morning snacks. 🍪 When it comes to dessert, I’d try to substitute some ingredients with healthier products such as honey, oatmeal, or whole wheat flour etc…
Why? Idk…It always feels better when you can lower the fat and sugar intake while keeping the taste of the end result perfect and maybe you might simply be binge eating without even knowing. Instead of using granulated sugar, honey is the way to go BUT you gotta make sure you do a little conversions ⚖️ here and there with the recipe to balance out the overall flavor. 👌🏻
So, swapping in honey for sugar means you will have to reduce the amount of sweetener. The general rule is for every cup of sugar, you should 𝓼𝓾𝓫𝓼𝓽𝓲𝓽𝓾𝓽𝓮 1/2- 2/3 𝓬𝓾𝓹 𝓸𝓯 𝓱𝓸𝓷𝓮𝔂 🍯 (different sweeteners may vary, but just try it and use your best judgment to measure).
Other rules for every cup of honey used, would be 𝓻𝓮𝓭𝓾𝓬𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓵𝓲𝓺𝓾𝓲𝓭𝓼 by subtracting 1/4 cup of other liquids in the mixture 💧 , then 𝓪𝓭𝓭𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓲𝓷 1/4 𝓽𝓼𝓹 𝓸𝓯 𝓫𝓪𝓴𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓼𝓸𝓭𝓪🧂 to compensate for the natural acidity in honey. Finally, you can decrease the oven temperature or even baking time 🔥🕐. The reason is the honey caramelizes faster than granulated sugar so another smart move for you is to consider 𝓪𝓭𝓳𝓾𝓼𝓽𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓽𝓮𝓶𝓹𝓮𝓻𝓪𝓽𝓾𝓻𝓮 𝓸𝓻 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓽𝓲𝓶𝓮 accordingly.
